Job Details

Position Description:
The primary responsibilities of the position are to conduct research in virology and immunology [60%] and maintain a research lab [40%]. Research responsibilities will include comprehending the project objectives, designing and executing experiments, record keeping, and data analysis and manuscript preparation. Candidates with skills in virology, molecular biology, immunology, vaccine development and delivery and who are willing to work with animals will be preferred. Lab management duties include maintaining the inventory, equipment, safety training and records, student training and supervision and assisting with research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.S in Microbiology, Biological or Life Sciences
  • Experience in recombinant DNA and protein expression
  • Demonstrated experience in a research laboratory environment
  • Experience with cell culture, virology, molecular biology and immunology techniques
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and work well with students

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Virology
  • Experience with scientific writing
  • Experience with animal experimentation
  • Applicant should be reliable, organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and professional in a busy academic program

Physical Demands:
May need to carry weight of up to 30lbs, repeated hand movements due to pipetting, handling of laboratory animals.
