A long-term substitute teacher for ESL classes is needed right away in the ESLI at UW-Superior Intensive English Language Program. This is a temporary, full-time teaching position: four ESL classes per day, five days per week, from March 25th to May 16th, 2019.
Minimum qualifications: BA in TESOL, English or related area and teaching experience
Preferred qualifications: MA in TESOL or TESOL certificate and teaching experience with
ELL/EFL students at high school or university level
Position Duties Include:
* Teach four classes at the Intermediate and Pre-university levels of the ESLI program.
* Allow at least three hours per week for student conferences and faculty meetings.
* Adhere to the federal, state, and university requirements related to FERPA, Title IX, copyright, and other legal mandates, including participating in trainings and applying that knowledge in the classroom and in student interactions.
* Implement adopted texts and supplemental materials in the classroom.
* Use appropriate methodology specific to the fields of TESOL, pedagogy, and adult education.
* Provide academic advising through regular office hours and specialized meetings with assigned advisees and students.
* Participate in all academic excursions occurring during class instruction, including field trips.
* Use the ESLI-approved learning management system daily to post syllabi and assignments, assign homework and assessments, track grades and attendance, and communicate with students and colleagues.
