South Washington County School District 833 is a suburban district located southeast of St. Paul. The district includes all or parts of the communities of Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury, and Afton, Denmark and Grey Cloud Island Townships, an area of 84 square miles. The population of the district is approximately 98,100 people, including the more than 18,000 students who attend district schools. 

South Washington County Schools is the sixth largest school district in the state of Minnesota. Sixteen elementary schools serve students in grades PreK-5, four middle schools serve students in grades 6-8, and three comprehensive high schools serve the district’s students in grades 9-12. In addition, the South Washington Alternative High School is in place for secondary students, with credit recovery for high school students and adult diploma programs for adults also available.
