POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sourcing Specialist, New Product Launch is responsible for coordinating the procurement activities and materials planning required for new product launches and integration of new technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead pre-release activities such as coordinate purchase orders, requisitions, request for quotes, and other similar documents related to the purchasing of product for unreleased parts or prototypes from new/existing suppliers.
  • Analyze and manage MRP schedules for new parts and ensure timely part PO placements.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics methods with input from the supplier and transportation department to ensure parts are identified correctly and delivered in a cost effective manner.
  • Expedite as necessary from suppliers to ensure on-time delivery for pre-production builds.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, technical specification and drawing release status of projects and lead corrective actions as required. Coordinate with supply base new component releases and design changes.
  • Facilitate smooth transition of responsibility to Material Planning upon release for production, insuring seamless impact to production schedules.
  • Coordinate with the production buyer to transition parts once stable production is established or directed by the production buyer.
  • Issue RFQ's and provide Total Cost of Ownership analysis for new product components and new technologies in line with the category sourcing strategies.
  • Assist production buyers by providing cost leverage toward current suppliers and introducing higher value technology options.


REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Operations or Business is strongly preferred.
  • APICS CPIM certification required (may be completed within 1 year of employment)
  • Minimum of 3+ years proven purchasing experience working closely with product development engineers in a Technology Category for OEM with a demonstrated success in developing supplier partnerships.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP, Pull/Kan-ban, and Two-Bin inventory planning systems and Bill of Materials
  • Functional knowledge of engineering documentation, manufacturing process control, and technical data.
  • Experience in the delivery of complex program management, cross-functional business/capability development and change initiatives.
  • Effective negotiation, communication, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) supported by matching verbal and written communication skills.
