Job Description:

Work with the engineering team to provide critical weight estimate and weight tracking for new and existing product lines. Weight tracking is a crucial role in the success of a project. The weights engineering specialist works with all engineering fields on a project and is responsible for accumulating and disseminating weight information in an organized and efficient manner for the entire project.

Sample Duties:
  • Determine realistic target weights and breakdowns for new projects
  • Accumulate weight information via drawings, calculations, or measurements
  • Determine predicted weight and center of gravity of the airplane
  • Track the weight changes with configuration changes and design evolutions
  • Communicate weight changes to project group in a timely and effective manner
  • Monitor production to ensure weight and locations don't drift from design
  • Assist weight reduction efforts by identifying and quantifying any potential savings
  • Assist experimental flight test with ballast requirements

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of a two-year associates degree
  • Good communications and people skills
  • Detail and data oriented
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and VBA
  • Familiar with CAD, preferably Creo
  • Part 23 aircraft certification
