Responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and operational effectiveness of LGC’s Alexandria site building, grounds, and equipment; ensuring our organization has the most usable, safe, and well-functioning environment for our team members and guests.  This role will focus on multi-disciplinary activities including facilities, grounds, and equipment upkeep and maintenance, vendor relationship management, facility setup and teardown, and project leadership; to preserve the good condition and environmental flow of our infrastructure. This position will partner with managers and teams from across the site to ensure the maximization and utilization of the site – making recommendations, executing initiatives, and prioritizing requests from a variety of team members to ensure that needs are addressed in an efficient and effective manner. The Facility Coordinator will work closely with the Quality Director, Safety Coordinator, Consumables Production Manager, and Operations Director.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Facility and Grounds Maintenance and Safety Compliance: This role will take ownership of the maintenance of our buildings and grounds, maintaining relationships with contractors and/or staff when appropriate and overseeing the upkeep of supplies, equipment maintenance schedules, pest control, repairs, and renovation projects.  Support LGC’s compliance with all federal, state, and local ordinances, environmental regulations, health and security standards, and responds appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and supporting follow-up actions in partnership with the Safety Committee, Director of Quality, and Manager of Laboratory Operations.
  • Project Tracking and Reporting: Track project activities and department needs to compile quarterly reports on facility needs and support initiatives, capacity requests, space utilization, expenditures, equipment decommissioning and disposal, etc.
  • Project Management: Responsible for cradle to grave oversight of all facility and building projects, renovations and/or refurbishments; supporting efforts from bid through final inspections.  The Facility Coordinator will investigate, coordinate, and support the planning efforts for future project developments in-line with strategic business objectives; taking action to support the calculation and comparison of cost assessments in addition to providing project updates to site leadership.  The position will support the management and scope of projects along scheduled timelines to minimize disruption to core activities.
  • Facility Effectiveness and Efficiency: This role will support the culture of Continuous Improvement of the Alexandria site by supporting the identification and implementation of facility and grounds efficiency and effectiveness improvement efforts along with other Continuous Improvement efforts as required.
  • Contractor and Contract Relationship Management: This role will work with Supply Chain and department leaders in obtaining and renewing all facility related contracts and insurance plans and will support contractor communications: supporting the development and focus on maintaining project scope, execution of project requirements, and inspection of work upon completion.  
  • Workspace and Environmental Control: The Facility Coordinator will work with department managers and/or project teams to identify the best utilization of space and resources of personnel and materials within new buildings or the reorganization of current premises.  This position will coordinate and support any space allocations and moves as determined appropriate and will support office and manufacturing space according to needs.  In addition the position will support the installation of new equipment for the site, including initial installation qualification and preventive maintenance.

Experience required:

  • 3 to 5 years of previous facility management experience.

Experience preferred:

  • 5+ years of previous facility management experience.  Technical and maintenance expertise in HVAC, electrical systems, and/or air compression units, etc.

 
Education required:

  • AA in Technical Field (Fluid Power, Electrical, etc.)

Education preferred:

  • BS or BA in facilities management

Other competencies:

  • Significant experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and CAD software.
