Job Description:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to both the operations and utility maintenance teams. The supervisor is responsible for leading by example in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Reliability/Continuous Improvement. The supervisor will work closely with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Mechanics and key production personnel.

 

 

 

Job duties will include but are not be limited to the following:

 

Primary Function:

 

  • Responsible for the day to day Maintenance and Reliability of the plant operations systems and the operation
  • Manage the schedule and coverage for all Maintenance Mechanics
  • Plan and ensure the execution of all corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance work involving plant process equipment and utility support equipment and plant structural system
  • Utility & support equipment and systems include ammonia refrigeration equipment, boilers and associated    steam components, cooling towers, air compressors, lighting and electrical
  • Help lead the Waste Treatment plant operations and the maintenance of the systems equipment
  • Provide input and support to the PSM/RMP programs by working in conjunction with PSM Coordinator, EHS Specialist and Maintenance Manager
  • Work with the Lead Mechanics to troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant processing equipment
  • Review PM work performed by mechanics for correctness, completeness, and sign off on WOR
  • Lead shift exchange meeting at the beginning of each shift and handle communication across shifts
  • Review corrective and emergency work orders produces on shift for accuracy and improvement
  • Review maintenance logs accurately
  • Follow the Pine Island preventative maintenance program
  • Perform additional duties within the department or plant as scheduled or requested
  • Performance Management – execute performance reviews, corrective actions, coaching, etc.
  • Is proactive in making recommendations to reduce and improve maintenance work wherever feasible; assuring efficient and productive operation of plant, process and equipment; while protecting and prolonging the economic life of plant assets’ all at the least (optimal) cost practical

 

 

Quality:

 

  • Follow 1QMS guidelines through monitoring and verification
  • Communicate quality concerns to appropriate personnel regarding defective product in a timely manner
  • Monitor and follow GMPs. Follow allergen program

 

 

Reliability:

 

  • Follow LMS guidelines through monitoring and verification
  • Complete and maintain the training requirements for your position
  • Keep management and associates well informed of relevant information
  • Complete all work in accordance with safe and workmanlike manner protocols
  • Follow sustainability practices
  • Lead and champion PDM/PM efforts and processes

 

 

Safety Responsibility:

 

  • Use proper lifting techniques when performing maintenance duties
  • Follow plant safety rules and procedures
  • Lead and champion safe work techniques for all employees
  • Perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries
  • Complete annual safety refresher training requirements

 

 

Physical Responsibility:

 

  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, pull, stoop and lift when performing maintenance work. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, controls, or reach with hands and arms above shoulder height, climb or balance. Occasionally required to sit or perform work in close quarters
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and/or SCBA if required

 

 

Interpersonal/Organizational Responsibilities:

 

  • Must be able to work in a team environment with sound communication skills to properly explain product quality issues to appropriate production personnel
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.  Able to develop written methods, paying close attention to details
  • Proven skills in developing specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job
  • Maintain legible & accurate records/paperwork as required. Accurately record notes in JDE E1
  • Proven skills to properly explain equipment or production issues to maintenance, lab, or other production personnel during pre-shift meetings, at shift hand off, and during your shift. This may involve communicating in problem solving events or meetings.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s Degree desired
  • 3 + years in industrial maintenance operations from Food/Dairy or related manufacturing environment
  • 3 + years’ experience leading a team of maintenance personal is prefer
  • Proven problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Must have good organizational skills, communication skills, be detail oriented, self-motivated, possess good leadership and team building skills to function as a team member and leader.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration, boilers, building structure and waste treatment is a plus
  • Knowledge of the OSHA and EPA RMP programs highly desired
