JOB SUMMARY

Must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. Primary role is adjusting and maintaining current staff work schedules. Included in this role: assigning, recording of nurse and nurse aide staff on daily/shift basis, through coordination with unit leadership; assessing unit needs throughout the facility and balancing the staffing through negotiation with charge nurses; anticipates immediate and near future staffing needs and works to resolve any last-minute hight priority staffing isues; communicating staffing assignments to staff; updating staffing grid to ensure documentation of assignments made by shift and for the near future; documenting unit staff scheduling changes and UPTO; and coordination of constant observers for the facility. Will be expected to track, document, and report staffing data to hospital leadership at staffing meetings. Must have strong communication and negotiation skills to work with multiple employees, leads, and department directors. Must be well organized, have high degree of self-motivation and independence and be flexible when needed to adjust schedules. Must use computer applications for email, scheduling, excel, and payroll. Must be able to work with interruptions, under stress, and be able to de-escalate high-stress interactions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Adjusts work to accommodate the needs of group processes. Uses scheduling tools and technologies to create and maintain a schedule. Recognizes changing demands and priorities; validates changes with management. Focuses activities on developing and maintaining positive customer relationships. Provides accurate subject matter or process knowledge for typical service offerings in specific client business areas. Identifies the procedures for making sure that results are mistake-free. Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy. Develops a clear, complete understanding of needs and problems through careful listening, probing, reflecting, and summarizing. Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This position works in our centralized staffing office. This office is responsible for placing inpatient nursing staff shift to shift to balance units staffing ratios. Knowledge of following computer programs beneficial: Excel, Skype and Outlook.
This position is a part time position (32hrs/pp)- working straight evenings. The schedule would include every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3:00 pm- 11:30 pm, and one weekday shift from 4:00 pm -11:30 pm, along with every other Holiday.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post secondary education or equivalent training in a health care or business related field is preferred. Previous experience working with people or staffing issues desirable.
