JOB GOAL: To assist in the implementation of the Individual Educational Plans of students with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Service Delivery-
1. Demonstrate sensitivity to the individual needs of students.
2. Effectively assist with instruction and student's accomplishment of specific academic tasks.
3. Effectively assist in the school-wide implementation of instructional and behavioral practices and interventions to improve student outcomes (e.g data collection, modeling, and reteaching, etc.).
4. Effectively assist in the management of student's behaviors as individualized and through consistent enforcement of established classroom/school rules.
5. Implement classroom carry-over activities as prescribed through the teacher by the Speech/Language Therapist, OT/PT, and Vision/Hearing Teachers.
6. As necessary and with appropriate training, program assistive communication devices.
7. Supervise and assist students, as needed, in other school environments e.g. mainstream classrooms, gym, lunchroom, playground, washroom, field trips, etc.
8. Assist students with disabilities upon school arrivals/departures, from room-to-room, and activity-to-activity.
9. Lift/carry students as necessary for personal care or emergency assistance.
10. Provide personal care as applicable for the program, (e.g.diapering, hygiene procedures, feeding, etc.).
11. Provide first aid, if necessary.
12. Record student's academic and/or behavioral progress using appropriate technology.
13. Use appropriate computer and technology-based equipment, tools, and materials for data collection, information management, and instruction as assigned.
14. Assists in the implementation of the special education Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the student(s) including physical and behavioral management, if necessary.
15. Assists in the implementation of the student(s)' IEP in mainstream settings including the lunchroom, hallways, playground and bus, if necessary.
16. Collects observational data about assigned students in various school environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school office/ classroom/passageways).

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Wisconsin DPI License (Teaching or Special Education Program Aide License).
a. Effective August 1, 2018, all applicants for a Special Education Program Aide license must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent degree.
2. Experience working with students in varying capacities.
3. Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
4. Basic Computer Skills.
