PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To plan, implement, supervise and evaluate the Anokiiwin Initiative. The Anokiiwin Initiative includes providing comprehensive services, information and resources that enable and empower program participants to take active responsibility for their place and purpose in community. The Anokiiwin Initiative is a fluid program of mixed services that supports transformation through career exploration decision and job search; career pathway planning, educational attainment that both western and Anishinaabe, identifying and their work related strengths, interests, and values and understanding work; preparing participants for finding suitable employment by enhancing their job search skills and capacity to express the relevance of strengths to employers; and fostering relationships with the employer community that hire Tribal citizens, provide program participants with opportunities to develop professional skills, integrate academic learning from work. The program provides financial stabilization support services that assist in the transitions of employment and income adjustments that correlate with change.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Collaborate with the NWICDC leadership team to identify, define, and meet the needs, goals, and objectives of the NWICDC Membership, or participants. Leadership members include the Ombishkaa, Biimaadiziiwin, Zhjoonia leadership and the Executive Director.
* The Anokiiwin Initiative Leader supervises, supports and mentors the Anokiiwin Team Care Coordinators that focus on: Adult Basic Education, Post-Secondary Placement, Workforce readiness, placement and pathways, accessibility and eligibility determination for services that mitigate hard from poverty and oppression including SNAP, MNSure, and SSI/SSDI.
* Insure that individual and group career direction services to program participants is accessible and transformative.
* Insure assigned teams members share information regarding career fields, employment opportunities, and specific employers for full-time, part-time, internship and work-study opportunities.
* Develop and direct programs and services designed to equip program participants with necessary job search skills and employment preparation strategies.
* Oversee marketing strategies and resources to identify and bring potential employers program participants to the NWICDC.
* Effectively represent the NWICDC to various agencies including funders, partners, employers, and/or the general public.
* Maintenance of Internet applications and databases that support and delivery of career services to program participants.
* Create, maintain and nurture Employer partnerships with a variety of Employment Industry Representatives that value the inclusion and advancement of Tribal citizens.
* Monitor the designated assigned monthly program goals and outcomes are delegated to Anokiiwin team members and insure accountability to performance agreements.
* Monitor and evaluate program achievements against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to program participant needs and interests and participate in leadership meetings.
* Insure thorough case management process and maintain accurate client files and ongoing participant documentation.
* Participate in the collective responsibility of a productive, clean, positive and supportive work environment, delegating and managing the maintenance of inventory of all Anokiiwin program equipment and supplies in good order. Control equipment, service and software expenditures against budget.
* Oversee the administrative systems that Anokiiwin Care Coordinators register new participants with, ensuring continuous Anishinaabe Quality improvement by auditing membership hard files and regular data entry.
* Ensure accurate record keeping for activities and events, breakdowns of daily participation, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
* Make recommendations for growth and improvement that will positively support members, families and community.
* May participate in special events, supervise and implement other program areas.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
* College degree or equivalent experience in human service related field
* Minimum five years experience in, or related to, career planning and employment services, including direct career counseling
* Experience in career development strategies for diverse higher education populations.
* Minimum of five of progressively responsible experience in information systems
* Demonstration of an understanding, appreciation and awareness of the cultural, social and economic diversity within the community being served
* Ability to interact positively with the general public
* Ability to plan and implement quality programs.
* Have strong communication skills (writing, listening, and speaking)
* Understanding and use of current educational practices in career counseling.
* Ability to work cooperatively as member of a team and in a professional manner.
* Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.
* Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
* Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.
