Job Summary
The Acupuncturist obtains comprehensive medical histories and performs physical examinations and assessments to determine appropriate plan of care. Supports and collaborates with mutli-disciplinary team across the continuum of care. Performs medical management and procedures according to established methods within the scope of practice and provides appropriate follow-up care and/or referral to other health care resources. Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance.
Essential Job Functions
Provides intervention, evaluating and documenting progress toward goal. Modifying intervention methods as needed, working with team members to maintain patients' goal as primary goal.
Evaluates, develops, implements and documents an intervention plan using methods that are effective, within accepted treatment guidelines and are meaningful to the patient's plan of care.
Develops and documents a discharge plan when patient has reached goals, achieved maximum benefit or does not desire to continue service. Discharge plan addresses appropriate follow-up resources and training of patient and family members as appropriate.
Completes all documentation according to timeliness and meets requirements of applicable third party payers.
Develops and implements short and long-range goals along with the Manager and is responsible for measurable outcomes and effective use of resources. Responsible for program and service development in response to both internal and external stakeholders.
Promotes, supports and collaborates with Altru physicians, advanced practitioners, employees and the community on all Integrative Medicine functions to ensure continued growth of products and services.
Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

- Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
- Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with:
- All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
- The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader.
- The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
