Position Description:
North Dakota State University ( NDSU ) invites applications for the position of Director of Human Resources. This individual is responsible for strategic and innovative initiatives designed to improve the processes and systems for the campus community through training programs, procedure, policy and operational efficiencies. The Director leads NDSU in the areas of recruiting and retention efforts, performance reviews, compensation decisions and employee relations, building on our reputation as an employer of choice. This is a full-time, benefitted position that reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES :
Observe, anticipate and promote change within the Finance and Administration division and NDSU , seeking input from others and providing direction to leadership and team members. Establish, foster, and embody a climate of change, challenge the status quo, and cultivate positive transformation.

Fully support and model the University's mission, vision and core values to advance NDSU's priorities with integrity and honesty. Be regarded as a discernible leader that represents the Finance and Administration division to the campus community.

Listen and communicate to ensure proactive acceptance and ownership of strategic and operational direction as well as the accomplishment of the University's goals.

Gather information, select best strategy, implement and evaluate decisions to assure continuous improvement and assure decisions will positively impact NDSU's overall strategic plan.

Take initiative and hold self and others personally responsible for actions and decisions.

Collaborate and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization in order to understand the business objectives and to align HR solutions to achieve the objectives.

Build a culture of positivity and celebration, and recognize short-term wins.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.

Seven years of Human Resources experience indicating progressive human resource responsibilities, including working directly with organizational leadership.

Professional experience in providing vision, strategy, and/or innovation to improve HR activities to align with policies, procedures and the overall university mission and goals.

Demonstrated ability to promote and understand the customer experience.

Demonstrated success in utilizing data to inform decision-making, plan benchmarking activities and HR metrics when developing solutions to retention and employee training needs.

Excellent Microsoft Office skills, and working knowledge of HR technology.

Extensive interpersonal communication, collaboration and leadership skills for working effectively and building relationships with individuals at all levels in a complex organizational environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Five or more years of supervisory experience
• PHR , SHRM -CP, SPHR or SHRM - SCP Certification
• Advanced degree in Human Resources or related field
• Experience in higher education Human Resources
• Experience in a large, complex organization
