JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Provider Services creates a vision for the department that is consistent with ongoing needs and growth for medical staff services and seeks to collaborate and determine integration needs and opportunities with enterprise and regional professional practice and medical staff services. Provides oversight to the regional functions of provider services to include credentialing, privileging, peer review, focused and ongoing professional practice evaluation, and support of medical staff and allied health professional staff governance functions such as development and review of Bylaws and supporting policies and facilitation of committee proceedings of the organized medical and professional staff. Ensures regulatory compliance with applicable governance and medical staff standards of The Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation and other setting specific requirements of applicable accreditation or regulatory bodies. Accountable for implementation of Sanford initiatives related to physician services in collaboration with the Sanford Enterprise Professional Practice management team. Responsibilities to include: oversight and advisory responsibilities of the credentialing and verifications processes; implementation of Sanford privileging guidelines; assessment of eligibility criteria of providers requesting clinical privileges; facilitation of provider peer review to include ongoing and focused professional practice evaluation in collaboration with the enterprise peer review manager and coordinators; provide regular communication to the responsible VPMO and clinic executive directors, facilitate various group sessions and provide direct assitance and leadership to each specialty area; facilitation of Medical Staff governance responsibilities and clinic operations to include development, review and revision of medical staff documents and committee integration and communication; and oversight of compliance, applicable accreditation bodies and multi-state regulatory standards as they apply to provider services. Accountable to develop programmatic planning and project coordination to achieve the strategic goals of Sanford's professional practice initiatives pertaining to medical staff services.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Assesses departmental staffing needs; actively participates in resourcing efforts. Ensures staff development is in line with strategic organizational and departmental objectives. Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties. Promotes efficacy through monitoring, coaching and motivating subordinates, intervention, etc. Handles multiple initiatives at the same time and integrates them into a comprehensive plan. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Collaborates with other functions in establishing and documenting joint standards. Prepares actionable decision support materials for team and management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Five years clinical experience, two years of experience in health care quality and/or administration.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
