Supervisory Responsibility:
  • None

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Support the development of requirements, project plans, and activities pertaining to the design and certification of aircraft interiors and furnishings
  • Design details, assemblies, and installations of interiors, seating, and monuments using PTC Creo
  • Generate and review new engineering and changes according to Cirrus processes and applicable regulations
  • Identify, select, and coordinate with interior suppliers
  • Provide engineering support to experimental and production build
  • Provide engineering technical expertise and lead small integrated teams to design and test new or modified designs
  • Perform peer review of the work of other engineers; Guide and direct work of subordinate engineers
  • Author design requirements, test plans, test reports, and other engineering reports to support product development, validation, and certification
  • Coordinate and conduct testing to show compliance with company and regulatory requirements

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline required
  • 6 or more years progressive engineering experience required; Experience in aviation and/or automotive seating and interiors preferred


Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Working knowledge of interior substrate, structural, and finishing materials and manufacturing processes
  • Proficient with comfort and ergonomics
  • Ability to translate aesthetic industrial design vision into cost-effective, producible interior products
  • Ability to communicate technical and program knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
  • Familiarity with Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, or Design for Maintainability desired
  • Ability to read, produce, and check production part, assembly, and installation models and drawings; Familiarity with reduced dimension drawings and GD&T a plus
  • Working knowledge of CAD and PDM/PLM collaboration tools; Familiarity with PTC Creo, PTC Windchill PDM, and Atlassian JIRA tools a plus
  • Ability to create surface models/lofts in CAD and CAID (computer-aided industrial design) tools; Class A surfacing experience desired; Familiarity with Autodesk Alias or 3DS ICEM Surf a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Working knowledge and application of pertinent sections of Federal Aviation Regulation Part 23 or Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Familiarity with flammability and/or seat dynamic testing and FAA certification experience desired; Foreign certification experience a plus
