Hiring Department: Student Financial Aid


Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: $37,000 plus/year, Non-Exempt, Full-time, Benefited
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long-term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 to 4:30; non-traditional hours may apply during peak times

The Student Financial Aid Office's mission is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students through budgeting and awarding of Federal financial aid as well as University and external scholarships. The Student Financial Aid office is a fast-paced, high-volume environment that awards over $150 million in financial aid to over 11,000 students annually.

  • Develop and maintain written policy and procedures which are in compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
  • Monitor financial aid eligibility for students who repeat courses.
  • Manage short term loan awarding and communications.
  • Monitor and manage students' federal financial aid application (Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA) loads in to student information system. 
  • Maintain good standing on federal programs to gain and maintain access to federal databases.
  • Assist with Satisfactory Academic Progress documentation, check-in, and communications.
  • Assist in monitoring and adjusting students' cost of attendance and financial aid program eligibility.  
  • Assist with processing external scholarship checks on students' financial aid accounts.
  • Coordinate and manage financial aid eligibility for students completing their teaching certification.
  • During peak customer periods provide direct assistance to students/ families applying for education financial assistance, and communicate decisions (in-person, email and phone) to students and families about their financial aid options.

Minimum Requirements
:

 

  • Associates degree or equivalent years of directly related experience.
  • Two years of experience working in an office setting and/or task-related experience. 
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook with extensive Excel experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Experience with continuous improvement strategies and tools. 
  • Two years of experience in a university setting. 
  • Experience with People Student Admin module and Perceptive Content. 
  • Experience with UND policies and procedures. 
  • At least one year of experience with Title IV regulations. 
  • At least two years of work experience in Financial Aid.
