The primary responsibility of this position is to provide culinary supervision, training, and menu and recipe development in all areas of Dining Services. This position is a key representative of the department providing campus wide and community contact.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
- Formal culinary training strongly preferred and continuing education;
- A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience and a minimum of 5 years high volume food production experience;
- Valid Driver’s license and insurable driving record;
- Experience with food production forecasting;
- ServSafe certificate or similar food safety course certificate, or pass ServSafe exam within the first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, HMR, Business, Management, or related;
 ACF (American Culinary Federation) certification.

• Excellent leadership skills including the ability to visualize and communicate desired outcomes to a diverse group of people in a team based environment;
• Ability to train and direct a diverse work team to achieve departmental goals;
• Team player and ability to take initiative as necessary;
• Able to accomplish desired objectives and fulfill job responsibilities in a highly collaborative team environment;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Requires in-depth knowledge of culinary practices and techniques, high volume food service; demonstrated ability to creatively conduct recipe testing and menu development;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent managerial, organizational and problem-solving ability including ability to follow through and meet deadlines;
• Proficiency in using a broad array of high volume food service equipment; food service sanitation and preparation techniques is required;
• Requires broad range of office and technical skills, including administering data, generating reports, organizing and managing information/files, monitoring results, using general office software including Excel; knowledge of computerized menu management systems is desirable;
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask;
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
