Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification$38,000/year, benefited, exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

  • Provide library users accurate online access to library materials through ODIN’s LSP by doing Copy Cataloging and Advanced Copy Cataloging using  OCLC, AACR and RDA cataloging rules, LCSH, LC, and Dewey  according to standards; process materials; and catalog Children’s Collection materials.
  • Perform catalog maintenance and quality assurance tasks to ensure online bibliographic, item, and authority records are maintained or updated according to standards; ensure online collocation within the collections; process materials accordingly.Participate in and implement complex special cataloging, metadata crosswalks, and re-cataloging projects. 
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student employees.
  • Participate in library and departmental activities; assist Department Head in achieving cataloging-related goals of the Department.
  • Provide 3 references

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Library science or relevant area of study.
  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check


In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years progressively responsible experience in copy and original cataloging in multiple formats using OCLC and experience using a library services platform (LSP) online library system to perform technical services activities in an academic library. 
  • Experience with bibliographic description and assigning and establishing name, series and uniform title headings applying AACR, RDA, and MARC formats; subject analysis applying LCSH and SCM: Subject Headings; collocation of materials applying LCC and other classification schemes.
  • Experience with creation and maintenance of authority records at local and national level.
  • Cataloging experience with specialized format or content manuals/standards, e.g. Dewey and Children’s Subject Headings (CSH); knowledge of additional subject thesauri e.g. LC genre vocabularies.
  • Experience with acquisitions and serials management
  • Experience with computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets) and web resources and the ability to integrate them in workflow.
  • Experience maintaining bibliographic, authority, item, holdings, serials, and acquisitions database records to current standards.
