Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a professional and experienced flight instructor to be a Flight Training Specialist. Primary responsibilities include evaluating the flight skills and instructional knowledge of Cirrus' network of Cirrus standardized Instructor Pilots (CSIPs) and Cirrus Training Center (CTC) personnel; evaluating facilities, records, and procedures; and providing assistance and guidance to this network. Other responsibilities include providing flight and ground instruction to pilots and instructors in all makes/models of Cirrus SR2X aircraft, acting as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing CFR 14 part 91 corporate flight operations, demonstration flights, ferry flights, internal flight training and evaluation flights. Applicants must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills and be capable of catering instructing methods to a variety of student types and personalities. Strong presentation skills and/or courseware development experience is desired. Extensive travel is required throughout the world. Applicant must be flexible, able to work independently and accurately, and enjoy the opportunities to explore the world in a Cirrus aircraft. The Flight Training Quality Specialist will be located in the Mid-West U.S. region. Essential Duties:
  • Evaluate the flight skills, knowledge and instructional proficiency of the members of the Cirrus flight training network.
  • Extensive travel is required - 50% total travel time, 80% within USA, 20% internationally.
  • Manage own schedule as required to meet the audit goals as defined by the Manager of Flight Training.
  • Provide flight and ground instruction per standards defined in Cirrus policy and procedure documents.
  • Conduct presentations, seminars, and large ground school sessions as required.
  • Operate Cirrus aircraft in accordance with applicable regulations and Cirrus company policies.
  • Make timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight.
  • Manage travel expenses in accordance with Cirrus company policies.
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service.
  • Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights.
  • As required, assist the domestic and international sales team in the selling process, including supporting tradeshows and other Cirrus sales events.
  • Process and maintain a deep level of aircraft knowledge and be a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative.
  • Perform normal pre flight and post flight inspections as well as clean, fuel, add oil and de-ice fluid, update chart subscriptions, etc.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Current and active FAA certified Flight Instructors only
  • 1500 hours of total flight time preferred
  • 1000 hours acting as instructor preferred
  • 500 hours Cirrus instruction and CSIP preferred
  • Experience managing or working in a flight school environment preferred
  • IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, and night experience preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required
  • Courseware development experience is preferred
  • Presentation and speaking skills
  • Ability to work independently and accurately
  • Ability to create and manage own schedule while meeting goals and obligations.

Certificate or Licensures:
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor w/ Instrument (CFII) required
  • FAA 1st or 2nd class medical required
