Job Details
The System Operations Manager supervises and ensures the efficient operation of network, server systems and data centers in support of the company's production environment. This includes management of IT engineering staff that provide design, installation, maintenance and support of Bell Bank's enterprise infrastructure services.
Primary Duties:
* Strategy and Planning:
- Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources and ongoing operations of a 24x7 service center, including personnel and equipment.
- Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
- Develop and manage to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) to ensure performance, availability, and reliability of infrastructure; along with problem resolution expectations and timeframes.
- Develop maintenance and management schedules for network and systems equipment to ensure OLAs and SLAs are met.
- Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.
- Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for network architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
* Acquisition and Deployment:
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, servers, operating systems, and associated hardware.
- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems.
- Develop requests for proposal.
* Operational Management:
- Practice asset management for IT hardware and equipment.
- Manage operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
* Work Conditions:
- On-call availability; must be able to travel independently throughout the company and to remote locations as needed.
- Work flexible hours to maintain the Bell Bank infrastructure, to include after hours and weekends, as needed.
- Carry a bank provided cell phone for bank related emergencies and/or off hours support.
- Occasionally inspect cables in floors and ceilings.
- Lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
* Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
* Know and practice LOCBUTN, our Golden Rules, and Bell Bank Customer Service Standards.
* Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Required:
* B.A. in the field of computer science or information technology and 6 to 8 years of related work experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including a minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in production management / production support or related fields.
* Extensive application support experience with MS Server platform, Citrix XenApp/ XenDesktop, MS SQL Server, Cisco Routers and Switches, EMC SAN, and IBM AS400.
* Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
* In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
* Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
* Strong understanding of project management principles.
* Strong leadership skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
* Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
* Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating business cases, budgets, and so on.
* Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
* Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
* Exceptional customer service orientation.
* Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
* Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
