Overview
Full time, benefited position working 80 hours per two week pay period. Day of work are primarily Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm. Weekend work, holiday work, and night call are occasional.
The Patient Access Lead is responsible for day to day guidance of technical skills to the registration staff. This position's primary focus will be in the education of daily activity of the admissions department, having a great understanding of the admitting and registration process and is able to work in all areas of admissions. Having the ability to manage multi projects and time management will be a must.

Requires bachelor's degree in business/communication or related field or two-year degree with two/plus years of experience as a director of admissions and
three to five years progressively more responsible experience required.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates the activity of the Admissions area, directs employees in these functions
- Responsible for ensuring the inpatient accounts are secured
- Will make daily staffing decisions for call off/in
- Provides education at both departmental monthly meetings
- Interviews and hires new employees for Admission Clerk positions and arranges on the job training.
- Handles patient access personnel issues and concerns
- Evaluates employees biannually during midyear conversations and evaluation time.
- Develops, recommends, implements and maintains policies and procedures for assigned programs and services to ensure their consistency with hospital standards and requirements.
- Coordinates services with the business offices to ensure thorough screening of insurance coverage, determining patient responsibility and cash collection at the time of service, monitors the work of staff to verify that they are thoroughly gathering patient demographics and financial information.
- Maintains good working relationship with other departments; coordinating functions in the best interest of the patient.
- Routinely works (including shifts) in Admission area.
- Interacts with patients of all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics) while performing duties.
- Responds to concerns and/or complaints from patients, the public, medical staff, subordinates and/or other hospital employees pertaining to assigned areas in order to maintain positive customer relations.
- Prepares work schedule and reviews Time and Attendance reports
- Performs quality reviews monthly of patient access staff
- Performs AIDET audits quarterly on patient access
- Establishes and maintains appropriate records and reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
