Job Summary
The Infusion Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the sterile compounding and other dispensing activities of the home infusion department. The tech keeps accurate records and maintains appropriate inventory. The Infusion Pharmacy Tech reports to the Infusion Pharmacist and infusion leadership team for all activities as well as the sterile compounding coordinator for sterile preparation requirements.

The Infusion Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the sterile compounding and other dispensing activities of the home infusion department. The tech keeps accurate records and maintains appropriate inventory. The Infusion Pharmacy Tech reports to the Infusion Pharmacist and infusion leadership team for all activities as well as the sterile compounding coordinator for sterile preparation requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Enters prescription orders. Processes and prepares for the pharmacist to check.
- Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and co-workers. Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude.
- Compounds pharmaceutical products such as ointments, creams and other medications according to rules and regulations.
- Prepares inventory, orders supplies and stocks shelves in the pharmacy.
- Appropriately uses resources, such as inventory and supplies.
- Rotates through all work areas of the pharmacy.
- Interprets and manufactures IV and mixtures, small volume parenteral and TPN's for final pharmacist check.
- Maintains and promptly responds to requisitions for home infusion according to standard operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
- Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
License, Certification & Registration
- Pharmacy Technician, North Dakota Board of Pharmacy, Prior to Start Date
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Prior to Start Date
