This is an Executive Position based in Fargo, ND

The COO is responsible for overseeing the administration and operational efficiency of Forum Communications Company (FCC), a fifth-generation, family owned company that provides news, entertainment and business services throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Partnering with the CEO and the senior leadership team, the COO will play a key role in leading a digital, diversified growth strategy across FCC's newspapers, specialty publications, broadcast TV and B2B services.

To ensure success, candidates should have superb business acumen, exceptional understanding of business and financial strategies, and a familiarity with the industries that impact our organization. Top candidates will be exemplary leaders with a history of effective change management through a digital transformation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees and directs the day-to-day operation of the business.

Collaborates with the CEO, COS, Chairman of the Board and other executive team members on long-term strategies.

Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and the impacts on the organization's policies and operations.

Oversees operational planning by examining and validating approaches, projects, resources required and forecast results.

Responsible for execution of the company's business and operational plans.

Compiles, monitors, reports and optimizes company financial performance.

Controls the company's costs and introduces tactical initiatives to address loss.

Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies, and collaboration with management regarding the implementation of improvements.

Ensures communication, collaboration and resolution of issues in all areas of the company.

Delegates responsibilities and coaches employees to ensure staff members grow as capable participants.

Evaluate the performance of senior executives.

Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be a strategic thinker, astute financial analyst, and team leader.

Ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Outstanding verbal and written skills

Ability to make business projections three years into the future.

Knowledge of supervisory practices.

Ability to work long or unpredictable hours without loss of quality.

Ability to handle deadline stress and to work at a deadline pace when warranted. Flexibility is important.

Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet (Word and Excel) important.

Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.

Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.
