RECORDS MANAGEMENT CLERK

JOB SUMMARY: Compiles, organizes and analyzes patient medical records for accuracy and completeness. Maintains and makes available to authorized users timely, accurate, and complete patient health information. Scans all paper chart documents, completes quality review of scanned documents to assure accuracy. Assigns chart deficiencies to the applicable provider, monitors deficiency completion. Prioritizes, locates, pulls, assembles, electronically tracks, and sees to the appropriate transport of paper records requested by other departments in accordance with established standards. Processes requests for disclosures of patient health information (PHI) in accordance with federal and state regulations along with facility policies and procedures. This job plays an important role in maintaining the integrity and completeness of the medical record.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Graduate of a Health Information Technology or other Medical Secretarial Program preferred. Significant experience in a health care-related office or other administrative setting preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Prefer Health Information Management experience; however, on the job training will be considered.
