Prairie Business Magazine, based in Grand Forks, ND, is hiring a full-time Editor to oversee the planning and writing of the magazine. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Write and edit stories and features.
  • Make recommendations for annual departmental budget and continue to monitor throughout the year.
  • Deal with readers and resources by telephone, mail and in person.
  • Develop and enforce policies on the kind of business stories and information that will be published.
  • Monitor freelance writers and complete pages to ensure that established design policies are being followed.
  • Travel throughout the region attending conferences and cover possible stories.
  • Represent the magazine as a public spokesperson in a variety of venues.


Position Requirements
  • Ability to coordinate the workflow of a department and assign projects.
  • Time management skills while working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; five or more years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and people skills a must.
  • Ability to read, analyze and recognize editorial errors and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and have a driving record that is insurable by the company.
