Hiring Department:  Athletic Department, Men's Basketball Program

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $70,000 plus annual salary/ Benefited, Exempt, Full-time
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision,  flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.

Assist the head men's basketball coach in all areas of coaching a competitive Division I collegiate basketball program.
This position’s responsibilities could include, but not limited to:

  • Assist the head men's basketball coach in all areas of coaching,
  • Provide instruction related to team and leadership concepts/skills,
  • Assist strength coach for weight training and conditioning practices,
  • Provide support and encouragement to promote the physical and mental well-being of the student-athletes,
  • Recruit quality prospective student-athletes,
  • Game preparation,
  • Practice/game management,
  • Analyze game film,
  • Scouting opponents,
  • Academic supervision of student-athletes,
  • Monitoring of social media for student-athletes,
  • Assisting with fundraising and community service,
  • Advising/mentoring as appropriate,
  • Assist with basketball camps/clinics,
  • Other organizational and administrative duties as assigned by the head coach


Required Competencies:

  • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni and general public
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
  • Ability to teach and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Must have a commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations
  • Must have commitment to academic success of student-athletes
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student athletes including having a valid driver's license

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as head coach at the NCAA Division I or Division II level
  • 10 years experience with implementing player development programs
  • 5 years experience balancing an operating budget
  • Experience recruiting in the upper Midwest region
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of a criminal records background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience recruiting international student-athletes
  • Experience recruiting in the Pacific Northwest
  • 5 years experience with scouting/video editing with Synergy Editiing Program
