JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibilities include identifying program opportunities, leading the design of program offerings and materials for promoting healthy habits and lifestyles to children and families, and facilitating collaboration with Sanford entities for delivery.
Responsible for the design and development of health promotion, education and outreach programming, to include programs developed for Sanford Fit in cooperation with other Sanford outreach programming. Champion Sanford Fit programming in the focus of sustainable health behavior change in all areas, including social and emotional learning, sleep and relaxation, nutrition, and physical activity.
Responsible for the coordination, preparation, submission and administration of internal and external health promotion events.
Must demonstrate previous, proven experience in assessing community needs, collaborating with partners and creating programs that demonstrate improvement in awareness, literacy and behavior change.
Must possess writing and speaking abilities that communicate, educate and motivate clearly to the public, staff and healthcare providers. Other required skills include; preparation of data reports, the ability to multi-task, diplomacy, communication, event participation, and the ability to collaborate with both internal and external partners.
Knowledge of program development models (such as the logic model) requiring goals, objectives, inputs, outputs and outcome tracking.
Scheduled work hours vary dependent on educational needs. Occasional travel may be required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates experience engendering collaborative processes that lead to problem solving and the achievement of business goals. Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work. Performs basic tasks applying data administration tools and systems. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Explains issues in alternative ways to accommodate different listeners. Selects appropriate marketing copy or promotional text for specific types of publications. Uses basic features of two or more Office applications. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Hours: Primarily, Monday-Friday, 8a-5p with an occasional evening / weekend. Some travel involved. Ideal candidate has experience working with community health programs, children’s programs (YMCA, Boys/Girls Club, Schools, etc.), or a teacher or instructor. Must be comfortable to write new educational lessons and learning content for ages 4-12, as well as proof and copy editing. Digital marketing understanding or how to present content online/social media preferred. Must be invested in children’s wellness and preventative health and be willing to attend and engage with communities, children, and parents at regional and national events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in early childhood education/elementary education, health promotion, or related field.
Minimum of two years of experience in education and/or program development required. Preferred experience in community health programs, health coaching, or children's programming.
Excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office) required. Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (inDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator) preferred.
