JOB SUMMARY

Demonstrates strong ability to swim. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the designated facility. Upholds the ability to sense and predict an abnormal situation, maintaining preventative care at all times. Speaks with authority when warning patrons about rule violations or safety concerns and reports any conflicts to manager when necessary. Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. Exhibits quick thinking in emergency situations, using proper emergency techniques during rescue until the arrival of emergency medical services. Will work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Responsible for maintaining pool chemicals and adjusting chemicals as needed. Expected to keep the pool deck clean. Supervises the sauna, steam room, and whirlpool attendance, ensuring proper rules and regulations are being followed for the overall safety of patrons and members. Reports maintenance issues when necessary.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates a personal commitment to contributing to others' well being. Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment. Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury. Rescue distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment. Inspect recreational facilities for cleanliness. Maintain quality of pool water by testing chemical levels. Demonstrates the ability to maintain focus for specific activities. Explains the importance of accuracy in own function or unit. Participates in making decisions and carries out tasks in the absence of complete information. Tolerates a limited amount of risk and uncertainty. Adapts easily to changing work demands.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years of age or older and in high school.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and lifeguard training certification required.
