MapR Developer

This is a new position on the Big Data Messaging Service data application team.? This team will support the ingestion, cleansing and parsing of Exchange and Skype data into the Enterprise Data Environment, landing information in the Enterprise Data Lake to build an Enterprise Data Asset.? The team will also support other corresponding enterprise initiatives.

The Enterprise Data Lake is a core enterprise capability that enables key initiatives that drives the Company?s data transformation, analytics agenda, digitization of products and services, regulatory compliance, and etc.? At the center of the Enterprise Data Lake is the big data platform comprised of a rich portfolio of open source products (Hadoop and related eco-system tools), COTS (commercially off-the-shelf) products, and in sourced developed capabilities.

The Lead Systems Engineer (App Sys Eng 6) position will be primarily focused on engineering, development and support of the ingestion, cleansing and parsing of Exchange and Skype data into the Enterprise Data Lake. This position will be a subject matter expert on the process and underlying technology infrastructure.? Candidates should have a computer science or information technology degree with deep experience supporting applications with Linux, shell, Java and Hadoop (Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Oozie). Good candidates should have experience and working knowledge of Git, Elasticsearch and Python. In addition, this candidate must have excellent, interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills as technology teams primarily work virtually.? Finally, candidates should be comfortable collaborating with non-technical financial business professionals troubleshooting issues and translating business requirements and writing clear and concise documentation.

Qualifications:

10+ years of application development and implementation experience

5+ years of advanced scripting experience using Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, Java, or PL-SQL

3+ years of Linux administration experience

3 + years of experience leading multiple workstreams, applications, or deliverables

3+ years of experience with Big Data or Hadoop tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka and Map

3+ years of experience capturing and documenting complex business and functional requirements

2+ years of data management experience

2+ years of experience with databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL server, or Teradata

2+ years of Distributed Software Development

2+ years of Python and or Scala experience

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of DevOps principles

Ability to interact effectively and confidently with senior management

Experience in Hadoop ecosystem tools for real-time batch data ingestion processing and provisioning

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work effectively in virtual environment where key team members are not co-located.

Knowledge and understanding development methodologies used in waterfall or Agile development.
