Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will oversee and provide consultation in the medical care of clients living with mental illness; this individual may assess, diagnose, plan, and evaluate client medical needs as required. This position will collaborate closely with clients' care team to assist in treatment plan and facilitate the best possible care outcomes. Additionally, this position will oversee the training and education for direct care staff members.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee administration of client injections and other medications per practitioner order for clients within the region.

  • Supervision of, and delegation to, company Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses as needed.

  • Assist and signoff on creating physical health and medication sections of Temporary Service Plans and Apartment Support Plans for new admissions.

  • Develop, review and approve Physical Health and Medications sections of all high-risk Individual Service Plans and Apartment Support Plans, both initially and when changes/addendums are needed.

  • Facilitate yearly review of medication and medication storage systems per DHS 83.37(1)(e)2 guidelines and follow up as needed.

  • Obtain and maintain certification as a CBRF Medication Administration Trainer. Provide variety of staff trainings according to company needs.

  • Provide regular input and direction to Regional Management and Staff regarding medical and medication issues.

  • Design, develop, select, test, implement, and evaluate new or modified informatics solutions, data structures, and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, health care professionals, and their information management and human-computer and human-technology interactions within health care contexts.

  • Develop strategies, policies or procedures for introducing, evaluating or modifying information technology applied to nursing practice, administration, education, or research.

  • Analyze and interpret patient, nursing, or information systems data to improve nursing services.

  • Develop or implement policies or practices to ensure the privacy, confidentiality, or security of patient information.

  • Develop working relationships with clinical professionals that routinely service PLS clients.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a current Wisconsin license and a minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing or related health field is preferred. Must have a driving record which maintains eligibility to be a PLS authorized/insured driver. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong planning and organizational skills. Must demonstrate the ability to work well independently. Must hold a working knowledge of state codes and regulations specific to this industry. Must have a caring personality and be passionate about working with this population.
