The Rochester Post Bulletin is hiring a full-time Online Editor who will be responsible for presentation and digital story packaging as well as timely content publishing for Rochester Post Bulletin's news website. The person in this role will oversee digital production and will perform a variety of daily duties to ensure that stories, videos and graphics are of high quality and high relevance to the digital audience.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leads digital production efforts, working daily to ensure high-quality content and presentation online.
  • Assigns and/ or creates digital-only content.
  • Works alongside newsroom editors and reporters to coordinate daily digital coverage, set and enforce deadlines and help manage breaking news for digital.
  • Edits content for online; rewrites from press releases and producing content from video footage or audio.
  • Tracks and communicates key metrics and audience data to help inform content decisions and identify trends.
  • Distribute and share content through appropriate digital/ social channels.
  • Maintains equipment and manuals for multimedia reporting.
  • Attends and contributes to newsroom and content planning meetings.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Position Requirements
  • Four-year degree in a communications-related or digital publishing program and/ or the equivalent work experience.
  • At least one to two years experience in a newsroom management-level position is preferred.
  • Proven record of strong news judgement and decision making.
  • Experience writing and/ or editing under deadline pressure.
  • Experience using a variety of website/ social media management and optimization tools, as well as basic knowledge of analytics programs.
  • Understanding of digital content trends and industry best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills are a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and various web/ social media programs.
  • Must be able to multitask, juggling many different projects for a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately using a Web-based content management system.
  • Must be hardworking and a self-starter.
  • AP Style knowledge.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
  • Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the Company.
