Safety Advisor

Overview:

Responsibilities:
•Provides professional expertise, guidance and training to Butler Associates in all areas of Health & Safety.
•Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis for workplace incidents/injuries.
•Assist Company facilities in implementing the corporate safety management system effectively and consistently.
•Provide accurate interpretations of applicable safety regulations.
•Identify deficiencies at Butler locations to assist in the development of corporate safety initiatives.
•Develop and implement safety programs and practices to minimize or eliminate employee injuries, vehicle accidents, property loss, and liability to the public.
•Coordinate emergency response operations including medical, chemical, fire and evacuation/rescue, designating responders and arranging for any necessary training
•Research, plan, organize, deliver and maintain programs and train Managers and Associates in Safety.
•Participate in federal, state and corporate investigations and safety inspections.
•Assist in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, law suits and insurance investigations.
•Inspect facilities, work environments, machinery, and equipment to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards.
•Assist in determining corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measure have been implemented in conformance with corporate policy and governmental standards.
•Assist with the compilation and submission of company data required by management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
•Maintain safety, safety training, and facility files and records as required by company policy and regulatory agencies.
•Assist as needed with new employee orientation regarding safety policies.
•Maintains knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, safety and laws, in order to keep the company in compliance with regulatory agencies and other applicable laws.
•Coordinates and conducts training for MSHA, OSHA requirements and certifications for associates.
•Assist in managing outside safety vendors.
•Works within and promotes mission and values of BMC.
•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field preferred. Minimum of two years in safety.
•Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring.
•Ability to write and prepare safety related materials, reports, correspondence, etc.
•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
•Strong computer skills and the ability to learn to effectively use company software - with training.
•Excellent knowledge of all safety-related federal, state, and local regulations and laws including but not limited to OSHA, MSHA regulations.
•Ability to effectively train others. Positive customer service. Able to manage time wisely and productively.
•Ability to be proactive and strategic, as well as tactical. Solid communication skills.
•Travel will be required in this position.
