Pelican Valley Senior Living seeks a Resident Assistant to join our team. Pelican Valley Senior Living is a three building senior living community in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. We have a 33 bed care center, and two distinct assisted living communities that provide enhanced assisted living services and memory care assisted living. We have been a proud member of the Pelican Rapids community for more than 50 years.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing personal care and delegated health-related services designed to maintain the resident’s physical and emotional well-being. The Resident Assistant follows the service schedule for each resident and correctly documents services provided.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Assists with medication, treatments and activities of daily living as delegated by the Director of Nursing Services per individualized care plan.

2. Observes, documents and reports changes in physical, cognitive and emotional condition of any of the residents.

3. Promotes independence with residents, offering choices and fostering self-help skills.

4. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all employees within the community as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Registered Nurse.

5. Orients and coaches assigned employees.

6. Completes scheduled cleaning tasks.

7. Leads and assists resident activities as assigned.

8. Responds appropriately to all safety hazards, call lights, requests and reassignment of duties.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Role: No

Minimum required Qualifications:

• 16 years of age or older

• Current valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance (if applicable)

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written

• Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident’s Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED or Higher

• Previous experience with working with seniors

• Licensure/Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant CNA and/or Home Health Aide

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services as outlined in the clients care plan. The certified nursing assistant (CNA) follows the direction of the nursing staff by following the individualized care plan for the clients they care for. Follows all HIPAA guidelines.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Provides care as outlined in the residents’ plan of care.

2. Provides physical care to residents according to established procedures and performance standards including Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). Monitoring vital signs and providing Range of Motion exercises in a manner that encourages independence and dignity. Assists with adaptive equipment.

3. Responds appropriately to all safety hazards, call lights, requests and reassignment of duties.

4. Reports changes in resident’s physical condition, behavior and level of independent functioning to the nurse.

5. Assists with admissions and discharges.

6. Reports pertinent information and concerns regarding residents, families, staff, visitors and building operation to appropriate personnel.

7. Accurately completes required documentation.

8. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all employees within the community as directed by Director of Nursing or licensed nurse.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Certified Nursing Assistant certificate in the state of Minnesota
