DENTAL ASSISTANT

Summary

JOB SUMMARY: Provides chair side assistance to dental therapists and dentists. May occasionally assist dental therapy students, dental students, faculty and/or licensed dental staff in any services rendered to patients. This includes assisting with chair side, laboratory and x-ray procedures, as well as assigned duties.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program, licensed by the state of Minnesota, current CPR certification.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in a dental office or clinic are preferred qualifications, however new grads are encouraged to apply

NOTE: The dental clinic follows the academic schedule of the UMN School of Dentistry. As a result, the dental clinic is closed during school breaks (Spring break, Summer break, Winter break, etc.) Staff do not accrue enough PTO to cover all clinic closings, resulting in unpaid time off each year. The amount of unpaid time off varies each year, and is dependant on the academic schedule of the UMN School of Dentistry.
